Selim Zilkha was an Iraqi-born businessman, born into a Jewish family in Baghdad. He grew up in Lebanon and Egypt before moving to the United States. Zilkha served in the U.S. Army in 1945 and then worked in the family business Zilkha & Sons from 1947 to 1960. In 1961, he founded Mothercare in the UK, which he sold in 1982. Later, he owned Laetitia Winery in California starting in 2001. He passed away in Southern California in 2022 at the age of 95, and his son is Michael Zilkha.
