Semyon Arkadievich Kogan (April 24, 1928 - April 5, 2016) was a Soviet conductor born in Babruysk, Belarus. He studied violin under Ilya Lukashevsky and conducting with Ilya Musin at the Leningrad State Conservatory. Kogan founded the Siberian Symphony Orchestra in Omsk, serving as chief conductor for ten years, and was chief conductor of the Rostov Symphony Orchestra from 1976 to 1991. He also taught at the Rostov State Conservatory from 1978. He received the title of Honored Artist in 1974 and People's Artist from the Russian government in 2006.
