She was arrested on July 16, 2022, after a viral incident aboard a bus involving a confrontation with Rayeheh Rabii, an agent enforcing hijab policies. Rashnu reportedly suffered abuse during her arrest and was later coerced into making confessions broadcasted on state television. After being released from Evin prison on August 30, 2022, she faced a lengthy legal battle, culminating in a 3 years and 11 months prison sentence on February 17, 2024.
