Seppo Tukiainen was a Finnish violinist and pedagogue, born on June 28, 1939, in Helsinki. He won the Kuopio Violin Competition in 1970 and played with the Helsinki City Orchestra from 1960 to 1972. In 1973, he began teaching at the Sibelius Academy, later leading its string education program from 1994 to 2001. As a founding member and first violinist of the Sibelius Academy quartet since 1978, he performed internationally and was involved in various music competitions. He co-founded the Tukiainen Violin Competition in 2010, honoring his contributions and legacy.
