Seppo Turunen, born on February 23, 1945, in Helsinki, is a Finnish zoologist who served as the director of Korkeasaari Zoo from 1995 to 2009. He retired in 2010. Prior to his role at the zoo, he was a lecturer in animal physiology at the University of Helsinki. Turunen also held a position as an associate professor specializing in animal nutritional physiology. He became the curator at Korkeasaari in 1993 and was the chairman of the Finnish Biology Society Vanamo from 2002 to 2008. He has written notable works on animal biology.
