Seppo Urpela (1937-1993) was a Finnish author known for his skillful novellas and a few novels and radio plays. He left school at a young age and later worked various jobs including journalism. His writings often focused on Finnish men and their connection to nature and values. Urpela's works were recognized internationally, with translations into five languages and his radio play 'Matti Joenmutka matkalla Jäämeren tielle' representing Finland in an EBU event in France. He lived in a self-built cabin in Nivala later in life.
