Sergey Vladimirovich Mironenko, born on March 4, 1951, in Moscow, is a Soviet and Russian historian specializing in the history of the Decembrist movement and political history during the reign of Alexander I. He holds a Doctor of Historical Sciences degree and is a professor and corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences since 2019. Mironenko served as the director of the State Archive of the Russian Federation from 1992 to 2016 and has been the head of the Department of 19th to early 20th Century Russian History at Lomonosov Moscow State University since 2006. He is also one of the founders of the Free Historical Society.
