Sesselja (Hreindís) Sigmundsdóttir was an influential Icelandic figure, born on July 5, 1902, and known for her groundbreaking work in education and care for mentally disabled individuals. Inspired by Rudolf Steiner, she established the Sólheimar community in Iceland, which aimed to provide shelter and education for neglected children. Acquiring land in a remote valley, she built a farmhouse, creating a self-sustaining community based on anthroposophist principles. Sesselja dedicated her life to improving the lives of those in her care until her passing on November 8, 1974.
