Seyed Ali Zahir Moulana is a Sri Lankan politician and former diplomat, notably instrumental in ending the Sri Lankan Civil War. He has been politically active since 1988 and is the current Member of Parliament for Batticaloa District. Appointed State Minister of Social Empowerment in 2018, he previously served in Parliament under the United National Party. He is recognized for facilitating the defection of LTTE members to the government in 2004. A former high-ranking diplomat in the US, he returned to politics as Mayor of Eravur and served in various governmental roles since.
