Seymour Roger Cray (September 28, 1925 - October 5, 1996) was an American electrical engineer and computer architect known for designing a series of the fastest supercomputers in the world for decades. He founded Cray Research, a company that developed many of these high-performance machines. Often referred to as the 'father of supercomputing', he is credited with creating the supercomputer industry. His contributions significantly advanced computational capabilities and he is respected in the field of computer science.
