Seymour Solomon was an American music business executive best known for co-founding Vanguard Records alongside his brother Maynard in 1950. A Juilliard-trained violinist, he served in the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II and later became a music critic. Solomon recorded five Bach cantatas with the Vienna Philharmonic, launching the Bach Guild. Vanguard expanded its catalog to include jazz, folk, and blues artists. After selling Vanguard in 1986, he started Omega Classics and later reacquired Vanguard's classical catalog before his death in 2002.
