Shaden Abu Hijleh (February 15, 1941 – October 11, 2002) was a Palestinian peace activist and philanthropist. Born into a prominent family, she became an active member of progressive student movements in high school and continued her activism in college. After the 1967 war, she protested against Israeli educational policies. Shaden held leadership positions in various organizations aimed at social welfare and health. Tragically, she was shot and killed by Israeli forces in her home in 2002, an event that sparked outrage and demands for accountability.
