Shah Moazzem Hossain, also known as SM Hossain, was a Bangladeshi politician born on January 10, 1939, and passed away on September 14, 2022. He served as the Vice Chairman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party and was a former Deputy Prime Minister of Bangladesh. Hossain delivered a 2.5-hour speech in the Indian Parliament advocating for support for Bangladesh's independence. He was elected as a Member of Parliament for the Dhaka-5 constituency in the 1973 general elections and later won a by-election for the Rangpur-6 seat in September 1991. Known as a 'political bird', he spent 22 years in prison during his political career.
