Shahla Sherkat, born on March 30, 1956, in Isfahan, Iran, is a prominent journalist and women's rights activist. She is a pioneer in the women's rights movement in Iran and the founder and publisher of the magazine Zanan, which focuses on women's issues and the impact of politics on women's lives. Zanan is recognized as the most significant women's magazine in Iran post-revolution. Sherkat has faced legal challenges due to her work and was sentenced to four months in prison in 2001 after attending a conference discussing Iranian political reform.
