He made significant contributions to Sindhi literature, authoring over 50 books including poetry, biographies, plays, and short stories in both Sindhi and Urdu. Renowned for his translations of Shah Jo Risalo, he received the Sitara-i-Imtiaz award for his literary achievements. Ayaz is celebrated as a revolutionary and romantic poet, leaving a lasting legacy in Pakistani literature. In 2018, a university was established in his honor, named Shaikh Ayaz University.
