Shamsur Rahman Faruqi (September 30, 1935 – December 25, 2020) was an Indian Urdu poet, writer, critic, and theorist known for his contributions to modern Urdu literature. He developed new formats in literary criticism that integrated Western principles and later applied them to the aesthetics of Arabic, Persian, and local Urdu literature. Notable works include Sheer-e-Shour-Engage (1996), Koi Chand The Char Aasman (2006), The Mirror of Beauty (2013), and The Chand Date Roz From The Earth (2014). He was the editor and publisher of the Urdu literary magazine Shabkhoon.
