Shankha Ghosh (originally Chittapriya Ghosh) was an Indian poet and critic born on February 5, 1932, and passed away on April 21, 2021. He obtained his undergraduate degree in 1951 from Presidency College, Kolkata, and his master's degree in 1954 from Calcutta University. Ghosh received the Sahitya Akademi Award for his poetry collection 'Babar Prarthana', the Padma Bhushan in 2011, and the Jnanpith Award in 2016, India's highest literary honor. He was also awarded the Saraswati Samman by the KK Birla Foundation for his poetry collection 'Gandharba Kabita Guchha' in 1998.
