Shantanu Chowdhury is an Indian structural biologist born in 1968. He is a professor at the Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research. Notably, he developed a gene regulation mechanism mediated by DNA secondary structures. He has been recognized as a fellow of the National Academy of Sciences, India, and received the National Bioscience Award for Career Development in 2010. In 2012, he was awarded the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology for his significant contributions to biological sciences.
