He is notable for opposing the Kurdistan Regional Government and the referendum for Kurdish independence from Iraq held on September 25, 2017. He led a campaign called 'No at This Time'. On October 1, 2017, he announced the establishment of a new political entity called 'New Generation'. He was arrested during the Kurdistan protests in December 2017, and his channel was shut down.
