Shavarsh Karapetyan is an Armenian underwater swimmer, born on May 19, 1953, in Vanadzor, Armenian SSR, USSR. He is an 11-time world record holder, 17-time world champion, 13-time European champion, and 7-time USSR champion. He was awarded the title of Honored Master of Sports of the USSR in 1982. Additionally, he serves as the honorary president of the Russian Underwater Swimming Association and has received the Order of the Badge of Honor and a Fair Play award for his rescue efforts during various accidents.
