Shawkat Shukayr was a Lebanese-Syrian military figure born on May 21, 1912, in Arson. He joined the military under the French Mandate and served as a sergeant. After Lebanon's independence, he volunteered for the Lebanese Army, working in military staff roles. He later obtained Syrian citizenship and rose to the rank of Colonel in the Syrian Army, eventually serving as Chief of Staff. Shukayr led the Syrian delegation to an Arab military chiefs meeting and retired in 1956, participating in the popular revolution against President Camille Chamoun alongside Kamel Jumblatt.
