She is the daughter of Ahmed El-Zeiny, an Egyptian squash champion, and Eman Rushdi, a famous tennis player. Sherine represents Egypt in various competitions, including the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympics, marking her third Olympic appearance after competing in Beijing 2008 and London 2012. Her participation in the 2016 Olympics came after a South African athlete withdrew, allowing her to compete.
