Shigeo Watanabe (March 20, 1928 - November 18, 2006) was a Japanese children's literature author and translator. He was a former professor in the Department of Library Science at Keio University. From the post-war Showa era to the Heisei era, he created numerous works of children's literature, and he translated many English and American picture books and fairy tales, including 'Elmer's Adventures,' as well as theories on children's literature from abroad.
