Soke Shigeru Kimura was a karate practitioner from the Shukokai style, born in March 1941 in Kobe, Japan. He began training in karate at the age of sixteen under Sensei Chojiro Tani, after having practiced judo and kendo. In 1965, despite language barriers, he moved to Africa, where he taught his martial art in countries such as Zimbabwe, Mozambique, and South Africa. He remained influential in spreading karate during his lifetime until his passing in 1995.
