Shimeko Tanabe (December 2, 1912 - November 29, 1930) was a Japanese writer and one of the lovers of the famous author Osamu Dazai. Also known as Atsumi Tanabe and Atsumi, she was the model for the character 'Sono' in Dazai's short story 'The Flower of the Clown' (1935), which involves a double suicide. Her relationship with Dazai played a significant role in his literary works.
