Shinji Okayasu is a Japanese playwright born on January 25, 1948. He graduated from the Department of Physics at Tokyo University of Science in 1972. In 1973, he founded the Yokiyagen no Ichiza theater company and was responsible for playwriting, performing across the country for 23 years. He won the Taneda Prize in 1984 for his play 'Pacific Belt Line,' focused on two truck drivers carrying nuclear waste, and received the Kinokuniya Theatre Award in 1985. Additionally, he served as a full-time lecturer in theatre at Toho Gakuen College from 1991 to 2008.
