Shinobu Saitō is a Japanese picture book author born on September 2, 1966, in Sakai, Osaka. After graduating from Saga Art College with a focus on Western painting, she worked as a textile designer before studying at the International Academy of Picture Book Classroom under Jun Takahata. She debuted in 1998 with 'Yoi Yoi Yoi', drawing on local landscapes. Alongside her books, she promotes handmade picture book activities, notably 'Acchan Agatsuku', created with children based on songs they sang. She received the Sankei Children's Publishing Culture Award in 2008.
