Shin'ya Yasutomi (February 19, 1944 - March 31, 2017) was a Buddhist priest of the Hongan-ji branch of Jodo Shinshu and a scholar specialized in Shin Buddhism. He served as a Professor Emeritus at Otani University, also holding various leadership positions within the Hongan-ji sect, including being the prior of a temple and director of the sect's research institute. He was active in the Eastern Buddhist Society as its secretary-general, contributing significantly to the development of Shin Buddhist studies.
