Throughout her two-decade writing career, she published six novels, two memoirs, and over 200 short stories. Born in San Francisco, she attended Syracuse University, where she met her future husband. Jackson gained significant public attention with her short story "The Lottery" and is celebrated for her novel "The Haunting of Hill House." A reclusive figure later in life, she battled health issues that contributed to her early death at 48.
