Okashita held the positions of State Minister for Digital Affairs and State Minister of the Cabinet Office, as well as serving one term in the Osaka Prefectural Assembly. He is affiliated with the Nikai faction (Shisuikai) within the party. His mother, Nobuko Okashita, is also a former member of the House of Representatives and was a State Minister of the Cabinet Office.
