Shōhō Minowa, born on June 6, 1939, is a Japanese monk, philosopher, and emeritus professor at the University of Humanics in Japan. He hails from Sabae City, Fukui Prefecture. He graduated from Kyoto University with a degree in philosophy in 1963, subsequently working at the Ōtani University Institute for Study of Buddhism. In 1972, he returned to his hometown to become the head priest of Gyōmyō-ji. He later served as an associate professor at the Jinai Women's Jr. College in 1972, becoming a full professor in 1980, and then a professor at Jinai University in 2001 before becoming emeritus in 2010.
