Shosei Koda (香田 証生, Kōda Shōsei) was a Japanese national born on November 29, 1979. He was kidnapped and murdered in Iraq by Abu Musab al-Zarqawi's group while he was touring the country. Koda became the first Japanese citizen to be beheaded in Iraq. His tragic fate drew significant media attention to the dangers faced by foreign nationals in conflict zones.
