He used the stage name Shunpūtei Ryūji VIII and is recognized for his signature musical accompaniment, 'Mikadukuri' (三下り鞨鼓). His contributions to the art of rakugo and his charm as a storyteller made him a significant figure in the Japanese performing arts until his passing on October 8, 1959.
