Pflugfelder was known for his significant contributions to housing development and the establishment of commercial areas. He fostered cultural, sporting, and social life by initiating projects such as a new city library, a music center, and a swimming pool. He was honored as an honorary citizen of Kornwestheim in 1989, and a square was named after him in 2007.
