Born on June 17, 1932, he is the son of Sir David Bowes-Lyon and Rachel Pauline Spender-Clay. He was honored as a Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order in 2005. He married Caroline Mary Victoria Pike in 1966 and they have four children, including Rosemary, Fergus, David, and Andrew. Sir Simon currently resides in St Paul's Walden Bury.
