Simon Kent is a British sculptor, born on March 14, 1970, in Worksop. He is renowned for his large, expressive, and abstract figures crafted from green wood. Using minimal chiseling or sanding, his sculptures are predominantly created with chainsaws, occasionally enhanced by blowtorching or sandblasting techniques. Initially, in the 1980s, he worked with clay, shifted to stone carving in the 1990s, and then developed a passion for wood carving around 2000. Kent has exhibited his work in various venues across South Yorkshire and the Midlands since 2004.
