Simon Liu Zongyu was a Catholic bishop of the Archdiocese of Chongqing, China. Born on December 3, 1916, he was ordained a priest in 1945 and later served as rector at a junior seminary. Liu was appointed bishop without papal mandate in 1981 amidst political upheaval. He faced significant challenges during the Cultural Revolution, being sent for re-education and working in a factory. He returned to his diocese in 1979, continuing his religious ministry until his death on September 30, 1992.
