Sipo Elijah Mzimela (1935–2013) was a significant South African politician and anti-apartheid activist. He served as the first Minister of Correctional Services in post-apartheid South Africa from 1994 to 1998, originally affiliated with the ANC before shifting to the IFP and then the UDM. After going into exile following the Sharpeville uprising, he returned to South Africa in 1990 and led as a member of the National Assembly. Mzimela faced political challenges leading to his expulsion from the IFP and UDM, before retiring in the United States, where he passed away.
