Sirkka Könönen was a Finnish textile artist born on March 7, 1947, in Suonenjoki and passed away on July 28, 2018, in Helsinki. She was renowned for her vibrant nature-inspired wool knits and also created wall hangings and rugs. Könönen graduated as a textile artist from the University of Art and Design in 1979 and received the State Prize for Applied Arts in 1992. Additionally, she was awarded Textile Artist of the Year in 1993. Her works were sold in her own shop in Kruununhaka, Helsinki, and owned by notable figures such as Queen Silvia and Bill Clinton.
