Sjoerd de Jong is a Dutch journalist and publicist, born on May 1, 1960, in Rotterdam. He has been the Ombudsman for NRC Handelsblad since October 2010. Prior to this role, he served as deputy editor-in-chief from 2006 to 2010 and held various positions including education editor, Suriname correspondent, deputy chief of domestic news, opinion editor, and head of the books supplement. He has been a columnist since 2001.
