Skid Roper, born Richard Banke on October 19, 1954, in National City, California, is an American musician known for his work primarily in the 1980s and early 1990s. He gained fame as a percussionist while collaborating with Mojo Nixon from 1985 to 1989. Roper plays various instruments, including washboard and mandolin, and has released three solo albums with a strong country influence after parting ways with Nixon in 1989. He also formed a surf band, Skid Roper and the Shadowcasters, and released his latest CD, Rock and Roll Part 3, in 2010.
