Sofia Jancu, also known by her pen name Étienne Constant, was a Romanian journalist, resistance fighter, and communist activist born on February 9, 1901, in Fălticeni, Romania, and died on December 15, 1983, in Paris. She was involved with communist circles in Romania in the 1920s before moving to Paris in 1931. A member of the French Communist Party from 1933, she worked in communist media and was active in various anti-war and resistance activities during World War II. After the war, she continued her journalism career and was critical of the Soviet Union.
