Sokrat Arshba was an Abkhazian surgeon-urologist born on February 18, 1905, in Ochamchire, in the Sukhumi district. He earned a doctorate in medical sciences in 1955 and became a professor in 1961. Throughout his career, he was recognized as a distinguished figure in science in both the Georgian SSR and the Abkhaz ASSR. Arshba was honored as a respected member of various medical societies and served as a member of the regional committee of the Georgian Communist Party in Abkhazia, as well as a deputy in the Supreme Council of Abkhaz ASSR.
