Solmu Mäkelä was a Finnish illusionist born on June 18, 1922, in Viipuri. He authored several books and columns on illusions and served as the editor-in-chief of Simsalabim, the magazine of Finland's magic association. During World War II, he performed publicly at the front for entertainment. He appeared in TV shows and films, including Aki Kaurismäki's works. An active figure at Linnanmäki amusement park, he coordinated a youth magic school that evolved into the Linnanmäki Circus School. He passed away on July 25, 2018, at the age of 96.
