Somabhai Gandalal Koli Patel, born on 10 August 1940, is an Indian politician associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party. He serves as a member of the 15th Lok Sabha, representing the Surendranagar constituency in Gujarat. Patel became a prominent political figure after receiving his first MLA ticket in 1985. Notably, he played a significant role in shifting the Koli caste's allegiance from Congress to the Bharatiya Janata Party, essentially undermining the Congress's Kham theory. Patel was also arrested during the Emergency in 1977-78.
