Somaweera Chandrasiri (1909–1971) was a notable Sinhalese poet and politician from Ceylon, originally from Mampe. He began his political career in 1937 with the Mampe-Kesbewa Urban Council and became known for editing a pro-LSSP weekly newspaper. Chandrasiri was elected to parliamentary seats multiple times, first with the Lanka Sama Samaja Party and later as a member of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party. He served as the Deputy Minister of Cultural Affairs and survived an assassination attempt in 1970. He passed away in 1971.
