After completing her high school studies in 1962, she studied at Western Reserve University in the USA and later at Uppsala University, where she achieved multiple degrees. Svensson has worked extensively in children’s literature, including serving as head of the Swedish Institute for Children’s Books and publishing significant works in the field, alongside editorial roles. She continues to publish studies in children’s literature post-retirement.
