Søren Gangfløt was a Norwegian cathedral organist and composer born on April 20, 1921, in Fredrikstad. He studied at the Oslo Music Conservatory from 1938 to 1946 under Arild Sandvold and Per Steenberg. He furthered his education in Paris with Marcel Dupré, in Copenhagen with Finn Viderø, and in Amsterdam with Cor Kee. Gangfløt served as an organist in various churches, including Kråkerøy Church from 1940 to 1953, Petrus Church from 1953 to 1958, and Vestre Fredrikstad Church (now Fredrikstad Cathedral) from 1958 to 1989. He passed away on December 12, 1997, in Fredrikstad.
