He has worked in archaeological excavations in Denmark and Sweden, notably theorizing that Köping on Öland could be Ansgar's Birka. Later serving as a museum director in Samsø and Göteborg, he has written about the evolution of beliefs from shamanism to New Age, proposing that pre-Christian religion in the Nordics was a form of dualist Christianity rather than the Nordic pagan faith.
