Sōshū Takaya (February 14, 1910 - January 1, 1999) was a Japanese haiku poet, born Masakuni. He moved away from traditional realistic and nature-themed haiku to create poems that significantly influenced the new haiku movement in early Showa Japan. His notable works include 'In my mind, it is a white summer field,' 'If the cherry blossoms fall into the sea, let them fall into the ocean,' and 'When I read the mountain pigeon, snow falls all around.'
